Cyber risk conference to focus minds on a global threat
The risks are high, the potential damage catastrophic: When Information Technology systems fail, it can bring an organization to its knees.
It is known as ‘cyber risk’ and is the subject of a conference in Bermuda that will draw experts from all over the world.
Cyber risk relates to any risk of financial loss, disruption or damage to an organization and its reputation when IT and data security is compromised.
The second annual International Cyber Risk Management Conference (ICRMC) Bermuda is taking place December 4–6 at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
ICRMC, presented by Canadian firm MSA Research Inc., is now in its sixth year internationally.
A major concern of corporate and government leaders worldwide, cyber security is of paramount importance here to the insurance industry, regulators, boards and policymakers alike.
Organizers expect a diverse group of on-island cyber leaders to attend, along with cyber enthusiasts from financial centres around the world.
Topics to be covered at the conference will range from the deployment of cyber capital in Bermuda to fintech, banking and blockchain.
IBM X-Force will kick things off with an immersive cyber simulation, taking attendees through a cyber-security crisis response.
Marilyn Horrick, COO and EVP, MSA Research, said: “We’re excited to have partnered with the Bermuda Business Development Agency for a second year, and honoured to work with a dedicated group of supporting sponsors and advisory committee members in order to elevate the cyber risk management conversation, while bringing this global community to Bermuda.”
